Here are some books that RWC students are have been reading lately:

Rubilly Delarosa:
The book "Water for Elephants" is told as a series of memories from Jacob Jankowski. The book tells of a man who was planning to join his father in their veterinary clinic. Shortly before doing so, his parents die in a car crash, prompting him to board a train in order to get away. Soon Jacob finds that the train is in fact a circus train. As he begins to work for the circus, he slowly develops a relationship with the ring leader and his wife. The ringleader, who has certain anger issues, grows suspicious of Jacob and his wife and leaves the circus. During the final performance of the story, several workers who were kicked off the train in order to avoid paying them return and set the animals free. In the end, the ensuing stampede kills the ringleader and shuts the circus down.

Brad Mazan:
The book "Maus" is in fact more of a comic strip. It is a depiction of World War II told from the perspective of a man from Poland as well as one from New York. All of the characters in the book are represented by various animal types, based on their nationality and origin. Of great importance is the symbolism used to show the Jews, who are represented by mice, and the Nazi Party, who are represented by cats.

Jeremy Benjamin:
The book "Necroscope" is a story about a boy named Harry Keogh. At a young age Harry gains the ability to dead speak, the ability to speak with the dead, as well as being allowed limited possession, so as to gain their skills and knowledge when needed. The events take place during the Cold War era and as such feature a nice amount of overtone in regards to the events at hand. Pacing is done well, and to a degree that makes you want to keep reading.
